CALIFORNIA BAY LEAF: California Bay Leaf, also called laurel leaf or bay laurel, is used world-wide to flavor stews and other foods such as corned beef. Just a dab in a pot of chili, or your other favorite stew/caldo, will add a nice subtle flavor - you won't have to remember to take out the leaf (and if you are in a chili competition the leaf won't pop up on  a judges spoon).
