Chili Verde

List of Ingredients

  • 1 package All Things Chili Homestyle Verde Powder

  • 14 oz can chicken broth

  • 14 oz frozen mild green chili defrosted (The Authentic New Mexican mild chopped green chili, or Bueno mild chopped green chili)

  • 6 oz. salsa verde

  • 2 tsp chicken bouillon base

  • 15 oz mild green enchilada sauce

  • 27 oz can mild whole green chilies (drained, rinsed, de-seeded, diced and divided in half)

  • 2 1/2 lbs pork tenderloin cut into 1/2 inch chunks

  • 1 cup white onion chopped

  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro stems diced fine

  • 6 garlic cloves zested or diced fine

  • 1 cup Anaheim peppers seeded and diced

  • 6 Serrano peppers seeded and diced

  • 1 cup jalapeno peppers seeded and diced

  • Oil to saute meat and vegetables

  • Salt to taste

Instructions:   

Cooking time : 2 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours ( Make sure to stir pot every 10-15 minutes)

  • Brown meat in 1 tsp oil and season with 1 tsp salt.  Once meat is brown drain and discard liquid.  Set meat aside

  • Saute onion in 1 tsp oil and set aside

  • Saute Anaheim, Serrano and Jalapeno peppers in 1 tsp oil and set aside

  • Add 15 oz. mild green enchilada sauce, 14 oz mild defrosted peppers, 14 oz chicken broth with browned meat,         

  •  4 TBS All Things Chili Homestyle Verde Powder and 2 tsp chicken bouillon to stock pot on medium to low simmer

  • 1 1/2 hours into cook time add sauteed onion, garlic, 1/2 diced mild whole green chilies and 6 TBS All Things Chili Homestyle Verde Powder to pot and stir over simmer.

  • 2 hrs into cook time add sauteed peppers and 2 tbs All Things Chili Homestyle Verde Powder to pot and stir.

  • 2 hrs 15 minutes into cook time add diced cilantro to pot

  • Cook additional 15 minutes, add salt and All Things Chili Homestyle Verde powder to taste.
